The Rafter Six Lodge

Standing three stories high, this beautifully crafted log structure is one of the largest in the World. Designed in 1977 by the current owners, Stan and Gloria Cowley, the Lodge opened for business in 1978. The Lodge was built on to the original log lodge and houses 18 unique guest rooms, a common room, restaurant, lounge, and gift shop.

Today, the ranch is one of the finest ranch retreats in the world, and is a testament to the Cowley's and their life's work From the log frame beds and furniture to the spectacular views and fresh mountain air of the Rockies you will be completely relaxed in a most spectacular and exhilarating western setting. For your peace of mind, the rooms have no televisions or phones.

Our beautiful cabins are tastefully decorated with ranch items and the past in mind. These quaint cabins are perfect for families or couples that always wanted to stay in a log cabin. The cabins have all the creature comforts for modern living, and comfortably accommodate 2-4 people.

Nestled amongst tall aspen and spruce trees are four chalets, with a campfire pit nearby to warm up the brisk mountain evenings. These self-contained units come complete with kitchenette, a living room with a wood burning fireplace, and a private bathroom. The four chalets sleep up to six people comfortably, and are a cozy getaway!

There's an indoor hot tub and swimming pool available during the summer months, and TV (if you must!) in the common room of the Lodge. But that's not why you came to the ranch - you came to "Cowboy Up" and the Rafter Six folk are there to please. And of course, the food! The meals are great (and plenty of it!) and all meals are served with authentic western hospitality!

The Bearspaw lounge is also a popular spot for a refreshing beverage in front of the fireplace or on the outdoor patio. Try a game of pool or board game with family and friends. Wind down your day with a relaxing Massage. Outdoor games of horseshoes, volleyball and the children's play area also add to your Ranch experience.

Choose from one of 3 packages: Ranch Runaway - For those wanting a mini Ranch Experience! Includes accommodation, full Western breakfast and supper. Ranch Package - Our most popular vacation package! Includes accommodation, three hearty meals per day, two hours of guided horseback riding (or equivalent), use of Ranch facilities. Bed & Breakfast - Ideal for short visits and those just wanting to view the Ranch way of life! Includes lodge or cabin accommodation and full Western breakfast. Minimum 2 night stay. Bed and Bales services are also available.

Whether a beginner, intermediate or advanced rider, we are confident that we have a horse and trail to suit you. Our guides and outfitters are safe and reliable and eager to share their knowledge of the area. The shorter rides are great as a mini adventure or as a warm up to an overnight pack trip. Our Adventure Meal rides satisfy your appetite for spectacular scenery as well as for hearty Western fare!

Rafter Six Ranch is located at the banks of the Kananaskis River which is perfect for family-friendly, white water rafting adventures. Friendly, professional river guides will provide you with all the equipment needed and information on safety and technique. You will be skillfully guided through the series of exhilarating rapids. The trip is considered exhilarating - but not life threatening!
